From shoddy pink to glossy black

So today I went for a simple coloured tip as I was short on time and inspiration, I did have pink tips with bows but they smudged and didnt look well enough to put on here.
The end result was very glossy but didnt come across well in the photos.

I chose a black tip with a natural couloured french manicure base.

The base coat was essence french manicure top coat out of the mini french manicure kit. I didnt have enough for three coats though which is really needed for opaque colour.

But that might only be because my natural nails are a bit yellow from constant nail polish.

The tip colour was a nail art pen ordered off ebay pictured above by sure promise its good but takes quite a while to dry.

I used striping brushes instead of the pen nib as I find it gives a cleaner line instead of a wobbly on I get when doing big ones with a pen. I like this kind of manicure for plain and simple when in your face bright nails might not be appropriate but you dont want togo au naturel. I used to wear nails like this in school to get round the nail polish ban.

Sorry for my dodgy photography by the way, the camera was very fuzzy and I hurt my wrist so the camera was difficult to hold up.

Blog Changes and cutesy Nail Art

So I decided to change the blog to focus mainly on graphic style nail art as its really what I want to be doing.

I also think im a bit better at nails then other beauty things so time for change, bye bye beaty and the bling, hello Check It Out Nail Art. :)

So heres a post of some nail art I did a few days ago, I got inspired by cute style japanese nail art and the I should be famous in Japan tumblr page which I love.

The base coat pink is by Barry M and is called Strawberry Ice Cream, I love this colour because I think its so dainty and delicate when its on your nails but isnt quite a natural pink. The fomula was just right as usual with Barry M I find. I used two coats for these nails but I recommend three if your not doing any art on top.

I started with black tips using my Wah nails and models own collaboration Nail Art Pen which is the diamond of my nail art tools. The tips I did first and then I painted on the bows and stripes half moons etc and finished with the polka dots. My favourite nails are currently the ring finger and thumb. The middle finger took the longest as the dots get larger to smaller in the lines though its not so obvious in the pictures.

If anyones is wondering the lilac barrette is from forever 21. I thought it tied in nicely with the cutesy theme of my nails too.

Any feedback is appreciated,

Thank You,

Jen xx

Phone. Bling.

Ok so I promise I ahve some beauty coming up in the form of a fabulous urban decay pallette but my camera is missing so ill find something to get a picture with.

Im just going to post some quick picks of some bling i did on my mobile phone. Its a nokia 5230 that was just plain black and grey. boring.

So I set to work with crystals and nail polish. I used the dark pink, clear and red diamantes I have from a wheel I ordered of ebay and Rimmel 60 seconds clear nail varnish for glue. The edge is models own nail polish in Juicy Jules.

The back however went a bit wonky. I was going for black and pink babrie cool. I had the barbie logo perfect but then my phone rang buh bye barbie. I did a bow in slightly larger diamantes from a brand called anitas in the art and hobby shop. I love that place. The heart and bows were done with black diamantes and bows I ordered off ebay too. As you can see theres twotones of pink in the base coat, thats from repairsto the damage I did to my phone when it rang. :( The main pink colour was again a w7 colour with name. I hate when that happens.

I did the buttons on the side with diamantes too but forgot to take a picture.

By the way if you decide you like slightly tacky bling like this and diy it like me, take off as much of the cover as possible when doing this otherwise if your not careful your buttons might get jammed and careful not to cover the speakers i made that mistake but was able to fix it. :)

Hope you liked my phone,

New nail storage

Okay so today I got a new box to store some of nail polish in, its an awesome "tool box" from B&Q but its exactly the same as a vanity case. It is even a bit better then others Ive seen, pretty good for B&Q!

Its a shot from above so you cant see the actual outer part of the case (stating the obvious). Its two shelf like sections that fold on either sized and a decent depth bellow divided in too six sections four the same size and two larger middle ones. It. is. perfect. I love it and it was only 29.95 euros. I quite obsessivly organised it by brand then colour, I could only fit rimmel, models own, barry m and nails inc and a few miscellaneous ones in that I use frequently-ish too and then all my nails art pens (the white lids in the bottom) and my nail art gems and fimos etc in too. The extra space at the ends of the shelf that lengthways nail polish doesnt fill can be used for brushes or dotters or little bottles like you can see.

It also came with dividers that can slot in every 5mm or so, so it can divide to separate brands or if you used it for make up like I hope to when I go to B&Q again.

Unfortunately I still couldnt fit my full collection in one place so I still have two hatboxs full extra but hey im not gonna complain nail polish is nail polish wherever its stored.

So thats it for a little peek in to my nail art collection,

Jen xx

Aztec Nails

My aztec nail art

So one post and I already want to write a million more.

I thought Id show you what nails I have on now in comparision to my early ones. The camera quality is a bit better too. I did an aztec design that was reposted from Xanadu blog to fuck yeah nail art! tumblr where I found this design.

I used striping brushes for the pink and green, purple nail art pen, and a black nail art pen.

The colours I used were Rimmel Hot Shot, Barry M Spring Green and a Sure promise purple nail art pen and the models own wah! nails nail art pen.

There is a newer Wah nails nail art pen but I decided to finish this one before buying the new one, because I think this one is awesome.

The actual nail art is'nt the best because it was one in a rush just before i got dressed for a birthday party so it got a bit ruined when I did my hair and make up. Sorry! I love these nails though, theyre so damn funky!

Anyways thats all for this post,

First Post and Early Nail Art

Okay, so here goes..my first blog post deep breath*

Well to begin im a beauty addict, obssessed with nail art and will just about bedazzle anything that comes my way :) Ill promptly begin to bore you with posts about nails, makeup, bling and a bit off hair for balance. I figured what can one more blog to do the blogosphere eh?

The picture above would be my early attempts at nail art when i followed WAH! nails like a religion :)

Index finger is an Isadora gold, Rimmel fast and fucshia and assorted nail art pens. Middle finger is Rimmel Grey Matter and an Inglot nail art pen in 32. Ring Finger is a Ciate red, a Rimmel green and a nameless nail art pen. Pinky finger and Thumb base coat pink is w7 which has no name or number (*grr) with a black models own nail art pen and blue Isadora tip.

I nicked a majority of these designs off the WAH! nails menu but copying is the sincerest form of flattery dont'cha know.

I wasn't particulary fond of the gold and pink stripe as I thought the metallics were a bit iffy with the creme pink colour. My middle finger and thumb however, I loved and have been repeated numerous times on numerous people. The pinky finger french tip i worked on and now love doing diffrent variations which i will post soon.

Anyways to put a stop to my chatting I'll leave you with who I am in the blog world: Im going semi anonymously as Jen the Irish Girl, who's young and trying to learn the ins and outs of The beauty industry so any comments are appreciated :) Blog ya later :)
